KFCB Commits to Drive Film Industry Growth Through Facilitative Regulation

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), a State Corporation under the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, has underscored its commitment to advancing the growth of the film industry through facilitative regulation.

Speaking during the launch of The Bond – Season 6 Overseas and the screening of Blades of the Guardians, a Chinese action thriller rated PG (Parental Guidance Recommended) by KFCB, at Century Cinemax, Nairobi, on Tuesday, July 28, Ag. CEO Nelly Muluka said KFCB continues to facilitate the growth of Kenya’s audiovisual sector through efficient and transparent regulation that supports investment and creative expression.

Acknowledging the deepening Kenya–China collaboration as a catalyst for advancing the audiovisual industry, the CEO emphasised the role of strategic partnerships in promoting cultural exchange, investment, and international productions.

She commended China Media Group for complying with Kenya’s film regulatory requirements and called upon broadcasters, exhibitors, and distributors always to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for both local and international audiovisual content intended for public exhibition.

“By embracing cultural exchange through initiatives such as The Bond – Season 6, we continue to strengthen bilateral relations through the universal language of film and television,” she said.

The event was graced by the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Guo Haiyan, and presided over by Mr. Charles Owino, Government of Kenya Spokesperson, alongside senior government officials from Kenya and China, as well as representatives from the two countries’ media and film sectors.
