Guide Children to Consume Audio-Visual Content responsibly, KFCB Urges Parents
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has called on parents and caregivers to closely monitor the audio-visual content accessed by children on broadcast and digital platforms, and to guide them appropriately.
Speaking at the eAware Parenting High Tea forum, organized by Mtoto News, Ms. Beatrice Indimuli, KFCB’s Senior Compliance Officer, stressed that parents bear the greatest responsibility in protecting children from the dangers lurking online, including age-inappropriate content.
“With schools closed for the December holidays, KFCB urges parents and caregivers to be vigilant and monitor what children are watching on both media and digital platforms,” she emphasized.
She also reaffirmed KFCB’s commitment to championing Child Online Safety through its Consumer Advisory Function in collaboration with stakeholders.

Ms. Indimuli recommended several safeguards for parents, including:
Setting screen time limits to manage how long children spend on TV and digital devices.
Using parental controls to restrict access to age-inappropriate content.
Watching content together as a family, creating opportunities for meaningful discussions about what children are viewing.
During the forum held on Saturday 6th December 2025, Ms. Indimuli highlighted KFCB’s Parents' Digital Literacy Programme (PaDiL), an initiative aimed at equipping parents and caregivers with the digital skills and knowledge to guide children in safe and responsible media consumption.
The program also raises awareness about the impact of media content and emerging technologies on children.
