Tree Planting at Kipsiro, Bungoma County, for a Greener Environment

In a bid to support the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign to grow 15 billion trees by 2032, the Kenya Film Classification Board through its Western Regional Office, joined other stakeholders, during a tree planting exercise, held at Kapsiro Sub-County, Bungoma County on 6th May 2024.

The Tree planting exercise dubbed the: National 15 Billion Tree Growing Campaign, was organized by the Office of the Western Regional Commissioner and the Kenya Forest Services (KFS) in collaboration with other Government agencies and corporates in the region.

Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Irungu Macharia, EBS, the Western Regional Commissioner, urged residents to take advantage of the ongoing rains to plant trees.

On her part, KFCB’s Western Regional Manager, Ms. Josephine Gitiri, lauded the Tree planting exercise, noting that it was timely and key in combating the effects of climate change.

She reaffirmed KFCB’s commitment to supporting Tree-planting initiatives by both the County and the National Government.

Ms. Gitiri also called upon parents and caregivers to be vigilant on audio-visual content that children are accessing and consuming, especially during this time that the school holiday has been extended as a result of the ongoing heavy rains.

The KFCB, a State agency in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, has continuously supported Tree planting across the country as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, as well as its support towards a greener environment, besides executing its regulatory mandate and programs.
