Through initiatives such as self-classification, Mr. Masiga said that KFCB is actively engaging broadcasters to empower them to classify their content for age-suitability in line with regulatory requirements.
He added that the Board is continuously onboarding broadcasters of audio-visual content meant for public consumption onto the self-classification programme and providing the necessary training and support.
“Our key focus as a regulator is to protect children and other vulnerable members of society from exposure to age-inappropriate content through the regulation of film and broadcast content,” Mr. Masiga added.
On his part, Mr. Salim Muhammed, Head of Productions, Al-Hajaar TV Kenya, lauded KFCB for spearheading the self-classification process and other interventions and expressed the station’s commitment to onboarding.
