KFCB Hosts the Scriptwriter & Producers Behind 'A Song of a Slay' - West Pokot's First Feature Film
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) management, led by Ag. Chief Executive Officer Ms. Nelly Muluka, on Wednesday, 22nd July hosted Ms. Lilly Noela Chepchumba, a young Kenyan scriptwriter behind 'A Song of a Slay', the first feature film produced in Masol Ward, West Pokot.
She was accompanied by Mr. Shiv Mandavia, a local film producer from Blue Sky Films (EPZ) Ltd., and Mr. Luigi Chimienti of Italy-based production company Disparte, the companies behind the production of the feature film.
Ms. Chepchumba attributed her success to the challenges she has faced, which she described as having shaped her journey. Despite having no formal training in filmmaking, her script attracted international funding, leading to the production of the film.
Ms. Muluka commended Ms. Chepchumba for her creativity, while encouraging other young people to emulate Ms. Chepchumba by identifying, nurturing and harnessing their talents to create employment opportunities.
On his part, Mr. Mandavia praised KFCB's efficient service delivery and facilitative regulatory approach, saying it has made compliance easier for filmmakers and other stakeholders in the industry.
