The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Management on Thursday 14th March 2024, hosted Gospel singer Christopher Mosioma alias Embarambamba, who was accompanied by renowned lawyer, Danstan Omari, alongside other members of Wakili's legal team, at the Board's Uchumi House offices, Nairobi.

They deliberated on matters compliance, and mainly the Demand Notice which the Board issued to Embarambamba over non-compliance with the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.

In the Notice, the Board had demanded Embarambamba to delete all inappropriate/indecent music videos uploaded on his YouTube Channel and other social media platforms and pay licencing and classification fees accrued from his music videos.

It is worth noting that Embarambamba through his legal team responded to the Demand Notice by requesting for an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in line with Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya. The Board can confirm that the artist has since deleted hundreds of indecent music videos on his YouTube channel.

In addition, the 'Gospel' singer issued a Public Apology over his non-compliance and committed to creating, distributing and exhibiting content that conforms to Kenya's culture, moral values and National aspirations, and which is not inappropriate to minors and vulnerable adults.

As a result of Embarambamba's commitment, it was agreed that the artist will comply with the remaining areas of the Demand Notice, in line with the filming and classification requirements.

While emphasising that the KFCB is not out to stifle creativity, the Board's Corporate Communications Manager, Ms. Nelly Muluka, urged content creators to adhere to the provisions of Cap 222 regarding the creation, possession, distribution, broadcasting and exhibition of audio-visual content.

On his part, Wakili Omari encouraged the Board to have frequent dialogues with content creators on matters compliance, so as to promote the industry while achieving the Board's regulatory mandate.

Embarambamba had been served the Demand Notice alongside his counterpart, William Getumbe, who on his part DEFIED the Board's demands and will be arraigned in court, today Friday 15th March 2024, in Eldoret, following his arrest on Tuesday night.
